Zvanicno saopstenje za medije:

Telecom Slovenia in Kosova from now on
29.05.2006

Ljubljana, May 29 – Telecom Slovenia has bought 75 % of Ipko Net. Ipko Net is the leading Internet Service Provider in Kosova. Telecom Slovenia has invested 19.5 million euros in the Kosovar company, out of which 10 million are a direct investment, to ensure further network building and modernization in the two upcoming years.

Ipko Net has a total of 110 employees and operates its fixed and wireless network. It's infrastructure is independent and is based on the wireless point to point SDH technology. Ipko Net uses a high speed IP/MPLS backbone to deliver flexible internet services. With it's network, it covers more than 80% of the populated area in Kosova. Up until recently, the company was concentrated mainly on the business users, however, there has been an increase of individual (residential) users lately. The company offers internet services, data transport services and IP Telephony but in the future it plans to offer other services through the internet such as television, video on demand and IP telephony for everyone.

Signing this contract, Ipko Net's director Akan Ismaili outlined: A huge synergy exists between the two companies. On one side, there is Ipko Net that has build a strong strategy for offering fast and effective triple play services in the kosovar telecommunication market, which is growing. On the other side there is Telecom Slovenia, with a serious strategy to become an important player on the regional market. This synergy will create an important player in the telecommunication market in Kosovo.

Fixed services are of immediate interest and strategy, to be followed by the strategy in the mobile field, which aims to secure the license for the second mobile telephony operator in Kosovo.

After buying Macedonian On.net and cooperation with the German company 01066 GmbH, signing the contract with Ipko Net is the third successful step regarding the penetration in the foreign markets for Telecom Slovenia. Regional expansion, above all in the southeastern markets, remains one of the strategic goals of Telecom Slovenia, which are planning at least another buy out outside the region.
