| MANHASSET, N.Y. — Alcatel has announced an OEM agreement with Alvarion Ltd. combining Alvarion's commercially-available WiMAX-ready 802.16-2004 solution with Alcatel's global reach and network integration capabilities. The cooperation between Alvarion (Tel Aviv, Israel) and Alcatel (France) would accelerate global deployment of WiMAX-powered fixed wireless broadband services, according to both companies. Both companies also disclosed that Alcatel has been selected to run several WiMAX pilot deployments in Europe. Among those, one will be delivered to French broadcast service provider TDF, and another to Paris public transport agency RATP. "We are delighted to expand our long-standing relationship with Alcatel," said Zvi Slonimsky, chief executive of Alvarion, in a statement. "Their global footprint and turnkey integration expertise will add value for customers and drive the adoption of WiMAX solutions." |
