Announce for Summercon 2002
May 31, June 1-2
Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel
Washington, D.C.

First I would like to thank the folks at Phrack. Summercon and Phrack
for years were one and the same. Phrack has had some turnover during
the past few years and Summercon relationship with Phrack began to
diminish. I am happy to say that Phrack is being handled with
dedication and that the future of Summercon and Phrack is assured. So
thanks to skyper and Phrack for keeping the spirit alive.

Summercon is the oldest of the hacker cons. It has been hosted in
such fine cities as St. Louis, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and
Amsterdam. This year we are returning to Washington, D.C. This year's
event will be held at the Renaissance Hotel on 999 9th St, NW, D.C.
It is close to the Convention Center and Gallery Place. Presentations
will be in the hotel's auditorium. Please see
http://www.summercon.org/conference/transportation/ for travel
information.

The con audience is a wide mix from security professionals, military
officals, socialists, hackers, parents, artists, etc... It is a
social
event with presentations to help get the conversations started. There
is little attitude, lots to learn, and plenty of fun at Summercon;
all
in the name of hacking.

Registration will start on Friday May 31 at 6pm in front of the
auditorium. Preregistered attenties pay $20 for entrence into the
presentations. Those who register at the door pay $25. To pre-reg
please go to http://www.summercon.org/conference/register/

The speaker list has filed out nicely. We have presentation on both
Friday and Saturday. Friday's presentations will start at 7:30p.
Saturday, June 1, presentations start at 1pm. The speakers list,
topics, and schedule will be posted on
http://www.summercon.org/conference/speakers/

There will be a few vendors at the conference selling shirts and
other paraphernalia. If you are interested in selling or distribution
of anything, please email us at: [email protected]
