Uprkos činjenici da je Draft 1.0 802.11n standarda izazvao veliki broj komentara, pojedini proizvođači su počeli da isporučuju tzv. „draft-compliant“ opremu. Činilo se da će veliki broj komentara dovesti do odlaganja drugog formulisanja specifikacija i da glasanja za Draft 2.0 neće biti do januara 2007-e. 802.11n je sledeći korak u odnosu na 802.11g, i nudi prenos podataka brzinom do 600Mbps.
