Google Maps no longer needs GPS

Citat:
Today Google revealed the second version of their Google Maps application that can now localize your position based on the cell tower information triangulation. The new "My Location" feature allows the convenient use of Google Maps on handsets with or without GPS.
...

The Google Maps for Mobile 2.0 application can currently be installed on Java, BlackBerry, and Symbian S60 devices. There is even a native version of the application for Windows Mobile.

ja mislim da ovo ima veze sa ovim programom:

GoogleMap v2.0.5 with My Location (beta)

Sudeći prema definiciji: "My Location feature takes information broadcast from mobile towers near you to approximate your current location on the map - it's not GPS, but it comes pretty close (approximately 1000m close, on average)", bi trebalo baš to da predstavlja.
Medjutim, ja isprobao ovu aplikaciju i javlja mi neki problem oko konekcije, mrzelo me da isprobavam GPS na otvorenom, "my location" takodje ne radi i izbacuje da se ne može konektovati ... no, imam VIP smrdljivu SIM karticu u N95 tako da možda i nije čudo. Pokušaću kasnije ...
