Apple has released a small point update to iTunes. File it under "saw it coming a mile away," the update breaks compatibility with Palm's "MediaSync" hack.

Apple has released an update to its iTunes media player and management software. In addition to fixing a number of "important" but unidentified bugs, iTunes 8.2.1 also "addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices"—in other words, it disables syncing with Palm's Pre smartphone.
