Vidim na netu da je taj printer imo problema i sa Vistom.
Hi french22, when ever you get an error message like the one you have. Run windows update. After windows update opens choose the Custom button. It's windows that provides USB drivers. If your using Vista my suggestions may not help but you have nothing to loose.
Windows scans your notebook. (Which is a good thing).
Un-install the printer software you have listed from control panel.
Hook your printer up completely but leave the power button on the printer to off. Than during a restart enter your notebooks bios. I think pressing either the F12 or F10 key will load the bios for a notebook. Find plug and play OS & change it from Yes to No.
This keeps windows from assigning IRQ's to your hardware devices. Windows makes too many mistakes from time to time.
I looked everywhere for your Epson Stylus dx8450, (US) & could not find it. Had to go to Epson Europe. arrrrrrrg! I picked Vista for the driver page below.

Lastly if you could not find Epson software in the control panel Add/Remove programs than use windows search & find Epson & delete it. Also remove Epson Stylus dx8450 from the regestry.
Click strart, run & type in the run window regedit click ok.
Click Edit, find & type in Epson Stylus dx8450 & delete it. Close all opened windows & restart the notebook.
Load either your cdrom or download the driver from the net & try again to install the software. Out of info. God I hate Vista. You may end up talking with tech support for your notebook
